How can a tape make the VHS player error ? My VHS player goes into error U01 and produces a blue screen "use the JVC tape head cleaner". Why could that be?
I think its because the tape is very bad quality and the player suggests cleaning. I have cleaned the heads using 2 different cleaners. The problem is not repeated with any other tapes.

Yes, the problem is the tape. Every time you put it in the VHS player, it flakes off more oxide particles and re-clogs the heads on the machine. Throw the tape away, unless you are intent upon wearing down or damaging the video heads on the player.

No, no its just to copy it. I ended up editing out all the blue screens (one every turn of the tape). A 60 minutes film became 34 minutes. Hadly any point really except to get a gist of the subject !!!
