Hey guys!
Having a bit of a problem with firefox, when I load firefox my homepage Google opens, I can perform searches but I cannot follow any of the links nor can I enter a URL or use a bookmark.
Any ideas what this could be and how I could fix it?
EDIT: I forgot to mention that on te same laptop I can still send/recieve emais via outlook and I can also use Azureus vuze. Also my girlfriends laptop work fine on the same wi-fi network

First check what firewall (if) you use, and try disabling it temporary(it me be blocking you).. and try surfing, scan for viruses/spywares..etc
-
Your profile may have been corrupted in some way (bad settings/extension(s), etc.). Try opening Firefox in Safe Mode (check this page for more details) and see if the problem persists while you're browsing in Safe Mode. If it does, one or more of the options FF gives you when starting Safe Mode might help.
Alternately, you can create a new (temporary) profile, and see if you have the same problem on a new/untouched profile. If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them? -
My copy of IE is this way on one computer. Annoying, isn't it? I've not found a fix.
Good luck.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Before reading these reply I managed to find out something else, a couple of days ago I updated the firmware on my router and a had a few problems then this problem started, so I attempted to do it again and the process was sucessful and now my laptop work fine and FF is running as normal, only problem is now the same thing is happening on my girlfriends laptop but if I perform the firmware update on hers it become usable again but mine isn't!
EDIT: While trying to post this message neither of the laptop were working and I had to update firmware again to get at least one of them working!Last edited by Squid_uk; 2nd Aug 2010 at 03:30.

Are you updating the firmware through a wireless connection? That is a no-no.
Are you sure you are updating the ROUTER firmware? This is a one-time shot, multiple installs should not be necessary. Double-check the firmware version on the router. Something is very wrong.
Also double-check that wireless or other security changes are not the cause of the issue. -
I tried disabling Firewall software and running malware/virus scans but no joy there, running firefox in safe mode had no effect.
I have also found out that I have the same problem using IE.
Nelson37 actually went onto the netgear site to downoad the firmware for my router, I also tried a system restore back to when it was working but that had no effect. -
System restore will have no effect on router firmware. Please check the router for the firmware version, and determine if this is the same as the one you downloaded.
Updating firmware will change ALL security settings. Your scenario of the updating PC being functional and the others not kind of points to this. Try turning off ALL security features as a test. Don't forget to look at MAC address filtering.
Router firmware should be updated ONLY through a PC with a hard-wired connection. -
I reinstalled my IE8, and it works again, as does IE6. Now IE7 doesn't work. Close enough.

The firmware on the router does match the version I downloaded. I did try disabling all firewallls, antivirus etc but to no joy.
I have no experience with MAC address filtering.
Do you think reset the router to factory settings would do the trick? -
Just reset the router, it should keep your settings. No need to do it back to factory specs.
Always try this first, also, reset the modem & router. Also try a Traceroute if you want, it's free. -
Well I reset the router and fingers crossed all is working well so far!
