    I am copying home made DVD's to a portable drive , When I connect the drive to a TV there are about 5 or 6 folders with bits of the DVD in them..its still plays but makes for very untidy drive ...when I download a movie it appears on drive as a single icon but video from my own DVD's or premiere elements breaks into different files on the drive ....Is there a way to copy DVD's as single file (Icon) to the drive... New and slow...Sorry about Stupid ?

    Welcome thetemple

    As you know dvd's titles spread a number of files and this is why a number of icons related to same title are displayed.

    Ordinary external drive"s are subjected to "personal" file organization ... media player types can be a lot different.

    ====

    The device is most likely limited to fat32 formatted partitions which means max files size allowed in 4 gigabytes.

    You'll most likely convert dvd to another format (supported by playback device) ... plenty of tools here to do the job.

    As for premier ... if dvd is output (ifo, bup, vob) then that answers that problem ... don't save them out in that manner.

    Yes, most video from online is generally "single" file.

    ====

    So that be ... Convert all dvd's to a "supported" format type which the play back device can handle and make them singular.

    If the drive is NTFS, or the file is less than 4GB in size, use VOB2MPG to get a single mpg file for each title on the DVD.
