  1. Hi,
    I am using a Panasonic HDC SD60 camcorder.
    On wide angle against a black background, there is a faint white diamond shape that is apparent in the top right-hand side of video footage.
    I have uploaded a still from the video footage here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1392157/sd60%20artifact2.jpg
    and circled the artifact in red, with an arrow.
    This artifact is only present at wide angle against a black background and seems to disappear once zoomed in a bit on the subject.
    What causes this? Is there a fault in the camera, or is this just a consequence of a cheap lens and all SD 60s will have the same problem?
    Thanks in advance for any advice/info.

    I think it's caused by light bouncing back and forth against the glass of the lens in extreme shots
    however, it could also be a defect if it shows up in most of your shots

    i'd be more concerned about the white dots above the pale shape. they appear to be dead pixels, right below the drawn red line. if those are in all the videos the sensor chip is dying.

    Thanks. That what someone else suggested on another forum too. Apparently sometimes people use a 'flag' (a piece of card) to block out a bright light source just out of shot that causes artifacts like this.

    @aedipuss
    Yeah, I was worried about that when I saw them, but they don't appear in other shots and are just sunlight shining through holes in the black drape.
