Hi, I hope someone can help with the problem below, as this drives me crazy:

I have used DVD2SVCD (version 103 build 5) for a long time without a problem. After a while I decided to use a newer version. I noticed no problems, only that CCE encoding speed was extremely high. When I tried to view the movie, I saw only this message: Avisynth: caught an access violation at 0xbff7b992, attempting to read from oxffffffff.

I reinstalled version 103 build 5 again, and the program ran again without a problem. Yesterday I've tried to use version 107 build 4, and the same problem occurred again.

Can someone tell me how to fix this? I do not want to use version 103 build 5 again, and I prefer not to use TMPGenc as the encoder.(that encoder is slow as hell)

    Thanks,
    The Dutchman

  3. Xzar,

Need a bit more info. Which movie did u try, and did you try another movie? the mpv, mpg (bbmux_xxxx.mpg)? Did you mount the image? Did you rip the movie to the hard drive or did you let dvd2svcd ripp it (Activate Ripping---could also be a bad ripp). Intel, AMD, Via Chipset,,etc ?

Could be a number of things. I had problems with encoding on build 4, so i went back to build 1-104, and it was okay.

Is your system overcloked? FSB on bios overclocked?. Re-download version 104 b1. You can also try to reinstall the huffyuv codec and avisynth.

One root is probably a programming glitch or different code (on some newer builds), that dont necessarily play nice with your ram. But most likely a different plugin (file sizes vary sometimes from build to build)

    Let us know

I have tried several movies. When I have tried the same rip with the older version of DVD2SVCD, I had no problems.
I use an AMD CPU and chipset. This can only affect CCE, so I have downloaded the AMD patch. I never had a problem, and converted over 100 movies with the older version.
I have removed all avisynth *DLL files from my system and reinstalled it.....didn't work.

My system is not overclocked, FSB is okay.....but....what do you mean by: reinstalling the huffyuv codec?

    Thanks for your reply,

  5. Not sure if this will help but its something I caught on doom9.org about cce 2.5 and higher.

"If you have CCE greater than 2.50 you must check Safe mode. This will increase encoding time considerably but at least it will work with newer versions."

This is in the Encoder tab and its the Safe Mode (VFAPI) setting. Like I said, not sure if this could be causing your problem or not but its worth a shot.

  7. X,
i had some glitches with build 4 of the latest version , under win98, and win2k, so i opted to stay in 2000-ntfs- and re-installed 1.4 build 1, and have it working great. Couldnt explain the bugs on the build 4, so i gave up and reverted back to b1.
Nothing really changed in my P4 hardware, other than doing a bios update on da asus board.
Is it an issue that you need to have the latest version functioning? Or just would like to upgrade because they've now introduce a new feature (or whatever, or fixed bugs from an earlier version)? Just cuz is newer, don't necessarily mean it may be better, or better on your pc.

Bring this question over to the doom9.org's forumz http://forum.doom9.org/
Look at the f.a.q.'s and read thru them before posting on
DVD2SVCD Basic Topics. Don't get me wrong all da contributors at vcdhelp.com are awesome and it truly is among the definitive sites for digital video. But da dudes over at doom9 are the ones more or less supporting dvd2svcd. Plus, it helps baldrick with the bandwith thing.

    Thanks for the replies.

I want to upgrade because DVD2SVCD version 1.03 build 5 has some bugs.
I did look at the Doom9 forum, and at this forum before I posted this question. This problem (and similar) was actually reported a few times, but I have not found an answer to solve the problem. Only a few suggestions, but these did not work.

So, once again; is the some-one (please) out there who knows what might solve my problem?

    Thanks,
    The Dutchman
