Problem playing a AVI video Please help me

I have a movie in .rar format and I tryed to play this avi with Vlc, media player clasic,gom player, wondows media player but got same error.
It only played upto 20 sec and then it was aborted.

The error was "codec error: use windows media player" then "aborting video, redirecting to microsoft codec download page"

I installed ffdshow also but the error remain same.Please tell me how to play this movie.

Did you decrypt the video with Winrar or similar?

If it was a AVI type file, then Windows Media Player would not be needed. The file is possibly a fake file. Those are often converted to WMV format and need a password, usually from very questionable Warez sites that commonly install trojans and viruses. I would just delete the file.

You can check the file with Mediainfo to see what format it really is. Also check the file length. If it is ~20 seconds, very likely a fake file.

Yes decrypted the rar file with winrar.I think you are right.The file is fake.I checked that file with mediainfo and the details are here ...... It showed encoded date is 15.06.2009 but the movie was not released then.No confusion the file is fake.Thank you
