Source is HDV (m2t) file. After rendering, the resulting avi's first 1.5 second or so is just black, with no video information. Any idea why?

maybe b-frame usage in avi container . It can be buggy
make sure your x264vfw is up to date , or use the real x264cli (e.g. use debugmode frameserver out of vegas , or lossless intermediate export first) -
I think it's a bug or the lack of some required tweaking on my part (if anyone knows how I'd appreciate it). At first I tried a version from earlier in the year which would not start rendering. The latest version could start rendering but has the problem of missing frames. Frankly I'm just trying to use Vegas to simplify the process and using command lines would be moving away from that.
Update: I (re)discovered Avidemux and found that it converts HDV to H264 quite easily.Last edited by shun; 22nd Jul 2010 at 06:56.
