  1. hi!

    My Problem:
I can't change the resolution in Virtualdub :(
    Standart is 352 X 288.
I can change the 352 to 720, but can't do it with the 288 :(
    What can I do?
I want to capture in DivX, but it didn't work in MPEG too :(

    My System:
ATI Radeon 8500 64MB DDR (retail / built by ATI)
    MSI KT266 PRO2 (VIA KT266A)
    Maxtor 60GB 7200 rpm
    AMD Athlon XP 1800+
    Hauppauge WinTV PCI-FM

    WinXP Prof.
    DirectX 8.1
    Virtualdub 1.4.9
    DivX 5.0

I take Hauppauge is based on Brooktree chip. With this chip, you can capture both fields only if you switch the overlay mode to preview mode. In preview mode you should be able to capture at 720x576 (PAL). If you can't, then it's an driver issue. Try using the universal Brooktree WDM driver instead (http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/).

However, you can't capture at full frame resolution using DivX 5 compression (unless you first get something like 100 GHz processor). Or if you can, you won't get good quality. You will get better quality using Picvideo MJPEG or Huffuv codec for the capture and encoding to DivX afterwards. Gordian Knot is highly recommended for getting the maximal quality DivX compression for a given bitrate/file size.

I've an Terratec TV Value card, and the installer didn't work with my card either. I got it working however after downloading the driver without installer and modifying the btdriver.sys file that came with it. Instructions are included in the zip package.

  5. hm:

Search for the token "$1" and replace it with the hex number
of the next listing that best matches your capture card.

but in the file are more than 1 "$1" !!
    Wich from them?
