  1. Hello everybody!

I am hesitating (really) between both players in the title.
Could someone please advise me and help me make up my mind (both players are sold for the same price)?

It is important for me that my blu-ray player:

    - reads DivX (and DivX HD)
    - is able to read these DivX from a usb key
    - is solid and long-lasting
    - has best possible DVD upscaling qualities

Thank you very very much for your precious help!

Hi there Bobby if you have not already bought your Blu ray player then i shall tell you this. I bought the Samsung c55oo at first and found this that the upscalling was good as well as the picture quality and contrast. The sound was also super. But on the downside the drive did not want to play AVATAR in the beginning until i did a firmware upgrade via the front usb, which can only play media like mp3 from a flash drive. The drive also made a really loud whining sound on most Blu ray discs i bought. I had the machine exchanged with the same model and it did the same thing. After not having much luck with that machine i then changed it for a LG BD570 with wireless internet built in, which the SAMSUNG C5500 DID NOT HAVE. Well let me tell you i am happy with this little player. The sound was amazing, the picture quality was really good although the upscalling could be slightly better, the colour and the contrast was great. But the upsides where that the usb in front supports a external hard drive up to 2tb to play media including Mkv files. The loading time is not as fast as the SONY blu players but it is faster than the SAMSUNG PLAYER. It has nice connections at the back. All in all i am happy with it. Model is still new so no region hack yet, still waiting for one.
I hope this may help you or any one else.

Well i must just tell you i am not always Lg pro but when you check all the pro,s and cons at other forum reviews on the two players then out off the two the Lg is by far the best, with more features. I have had it for two weeks now and i am happy with it. I have now already bought 15 Blu ray titles. I am trying to replace all my best dvd titles, like GLADIATOR, LORD OF THE RINGS,SAVING PRIVATE RYAN,AVATAR ect. Anyway i hoped i helped you.

  6. Hello again!

Well, I received the LG bd560 and here is my first impression:

It's a powerful and quiet machine. The quality with standard DVD is far better than what I had seen previously and I have not encountered problems with the usb port or reading files from a data disk.

The menu is easy to use and the youtube option looks good and is also user-friendly.

The player was easily connected to the internet and seems to be doing the updates with ease.

However, I have one major problem with this player --> when it reads DivX (.avi) files, either from the usb port or from a disc, the sound and image are not quite synced, the image coming about a half second before the sound. I have tried different .avi files and done all the updates, but it makes no difference.
The quality of the picture with divX files is also not a great improvement compared to my 7 year old 50$ dvd (divX) player I had been using up until now.

  8. hello,

    I have the BD560 player.
I connect an hard disk Samsung 3.5" 1.5TB formatted with NTFS and also a Toshiba 2.5" 500gb NTFS without any problem.

I want to ask something to other owners of that player:
I have some problems with audio CD, after some tracks, the audio start to skip but the CD is ok.
Moreover, yesterday I see a divx on the connected HDD and the image-motion of the video sometimes is slow; the audio skipped sometimes during the film. At the end, I re-try to watch the film and the video/audio was ok. I do not understand if it is because of the player became hot, a problem of software/firmware or other.

Another thing: in your opinion, there is a way to ask LG to upgrade the player with DLNA (so that I can play files mkv/divx from the network) ???

    Any idea?

    thanks!

Hi there i use a 1.5TB SEAGATE AND A 1.5TB SAMSUNG EXT hard drive with its own power supply and they both work. I don't think they work of a hard drive without its own power supply, but i don't have one to try that out, sorry.

Here are the main drawbacks of the BD-C5300
Extremely Load Whirring noise when DVD/Bluray is being read - as mentioned this is a known issue
The loading time is a joke compared to some models on the market
External device support is OK I guess though it took a while for it to recognize any devices or drives connected
The HDMI plug at the back on really flimsy and does have a lot of play in it (again a minus feature point on this model)
The annoying point is that it seems to reset any HDMI link with your TV after 24 minutes when playing DVDs and 10 minutes with Bluray and this is with a top of the shelf HDMI gold cable -

Basically there are only 2 good points
Access to the net through the RJ45 socket in the back and easy to navigate menu's
And the picture upscaling with movie sound

So if you want to get a reasonably priced Bluray player then pass on this model as the cons easily out way the pros
