    hello

the AUDIO_TS, VIDEO_TS are two folders that contain VOB, etc files and all this makes a DVD movie

    1) how is this format called? are there other DVD movie formats?

    2) can this (AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS) be written in a CD?

    3) when we write a DVD movie, we can just create in a simple DVD, the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders and put the VOB files in there? or a DVD movie is something more (maybe some written data in the DVD apart from the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders and the files inside them)?

    thanks

1 - it is a dvd plain and simple. It is the video mode if you want to split hairs since dvd discs can contain data only and not just video.

2 - yes but it will generally only be readable on a computer with dvd player software on it. though some oddball dvd players may see it as a dvd but generally video dvd has to be on a dvd disc for it to recognize it as a dvd video.

3 - In its simplest form yes you are correct. But you are better off using a dvd authoring program to get the proper layout. You can use freebies like dvdauthorgui.

It sounds like you don't want to use or don't have a dvd burner. Is this the case? You might consider converting your video to divx or xvid or wmv and burn it as a simple data file on a cdr. Assuming you have a dvd player that can read the given format you might be better off that way.

That way you are using a higher compression rate than dvd allows. You'll get more video in a smaller file size. Remember a cdr is just 700mb but a single layer dvdr is 4.7gigs.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

does "Play DVD video using Windows Media Player" count as a dvd player software ?

can this option play VIDEO_TS with VOB files written in a CD ?

    thanks
