I am trying to hook an older HDTV television to a DirecTV box. The Directv box has an HDMI output, and the TV has what appears to be a VGA connection for HD. it also has three component cables which are RGB. We also have a blue-ray player with and HDMI port on it. How would I connect both these devices in order to utilize the hi-def?
Sorry if I used the wrong terms, I don't know all that much about AV equipment...
Thank you in advance![]()

For that type of HDTV you would use analog component YPbPr (Green, Blue, Red) set to 1080i. Are you saying the DirecTV box and/or Blu-Ray player lacks analog component out? If you have the connections, you may want to add a component switch to select Sat/Blu-Ray.
The VGA connector is intended for PC connection.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
