  1. I am trying to hook an older HDTV television to a DirecTV box. The Directv box has an HDMI output, and the TV has what appears to be a VGA connection for HD. it also has three component cables which are RGB. We also have a blue-ray player with and HDMI port on it. How would I connect both these devices in order to utilize the hi-def?

Sorry if I used the wrong terms, I don't know all that much about AV equipment...

    Thank you in advance

For that type of HDTV you would use analog component YPbPr (Green, Blue, Red) set to 1080i. Are you saying the DirecTV box and/or Blu-Ray player lacks analog component out? If you have the connections, you may want to add a component switch to select Sat/Blu-Ray.

The VGA connector is intended for PC connection.
