I'm in the progress of creating an AVCHD disc which I'm going to send overseas (Europe) to my relatives. The thing is that I'm not sure about the format settings to use. Which format settings supposed to be used/which ones are more preferable in order to make an AVCHD disc playable on their BD players ?

Sorry. Sometimes questions fall through the cracks. You may need to bump this again on Monday. It's the weekend already and many of our experienced users don't read the forum on weekends.

I'm not an expert on this subject, so I'd prefer not to try to answer, but I can tell you that some BluRay players won't play AVCHD discs. So there is some chance that whatever you do, it won't work for them anyway.

I haven't tried playback on Euro Blu-Ray players either so you need to have a plan B.

Send them an NTSC AVCHD version (your highlight). If their Blu-Ray player won't play it, their computer will.

Also send a downscaled 720x480i/29.97 normal DVD. They should be able to play that.

That's what I was thinking to try that way but I wasn't quiet sure. I just needed some kind of confirmation from somebody. Thanks.

I'm aware about this. Just don't want "to waste" like this my video. Want to keep it still in hi-def. It has great sights, great scenes and great video quality of course. And I want them to see this just like I do.

I just wonder, what about if I encode the video to 23.976 fps (Blu-Ray standard) ? Would this mean better compatibility with european BD players ?

Frame rate conversion will lower quality. If you are going to try that, target 25fps, not 23.976 fps. I'd still send the 29.97 fps version as first choice.

In a few hours, Europe will be waking up. Maybe someone there can tell us whether 29.97 fps is likely to play.
