I'm very new to all this and don't know much about codec's, containers all all this stuff, so I need a lot of help!

A friend introduced me to Nero Recode about 6 years ago (I think it was version 6) and I have been very happy, using it to convert all my, about 1500, DVD's to AVCHD (2-pass, 3Mbps). Before my current setup, I used my PC to view the movies, but now I have a 50" Pioneer Plasma Kuro and it can play the movies directly from a USB-stick (will be connected via network soon)!
Time change and all the new movies I buy is on BluRay, so now I have a problem, because Nero Recode can't convert them! - What do I do to get all my BluRay movies converted to one ACVHD file and what bit-rate should I use to get a loosless or almost lossless encoding (I prefer to be able to encode all movies with the same bit-rate)?

Any help and/or input is wanted!

    welcome to the forum!

too bad about nero, most people here won't use it, as it's garbage.

you might try multiAVCHD it's free.

  4. Also RipBot and BDRB, both free; they can output to AVCHD or MKV files.

[EDIT] multiAVCHD is great, but maybe not the easiest program for a novice.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!
