  1. Hello,

I have bunch of quicktime .mov files with closed captions within. Does anyone know how to extract its subtitle and convert it to .srt file or something?

It is obviously in text format in the .mov file, not in graphic file format. I am able to extract the text with some tools but it doesn't have timestamp info so that I can convert it to .srt.

I've got those files from here: http://openmedia.yale.edu/projects/courses/fall06/rlst145/mov/rlst145_02_091106.mov
    (it is 500M-600M bytes, huge.)

I appreciate your help in advance.

    Thanks,
    K

If you revealed what operating system(s) you use and what tools you have tried unsuccessfully, it might be helpful to anyone trying to answer your post.

That's about all I can offer you. The programs I tried to use for extractions the captions did not work with a partial file, and downloading the entire video would take a long time with my slow DSL connection.

  3. Yes you can. You can use yamb to extract the closed captioning stream from the .mov and convert to .srt in 1 step
