Bought this Unit (two 9" DVD screen) at BestBuy (US) for our trip to France (long ride in the car anticipated). Was particularly happy with the fact that it supposedly could play PAL and NTSC formats as I am living in US, but am European so we have Region 1 an 2 DVDs. As iit turns out the Unit is set to Region 1. I was wandering if someone has succesfully unlocked this. I have read the Philips portable DVD threads and am not clear how to enter numbers (unlock codes) as the unit does not have a number screen and no remote.... Please help!

I checked, but the problem is that the PD9012/37 does not have a remote (and sensor). I tried using another Philips DVD remote but it did not work. Also, I do not understand where to input numbers (the code)....
-
Anyone can check if this is possible or not? I also have one and it is locked.

On the blue screen push the buttons in the front of the screen in this sequence: up, down, up, down, up, up, down. Than will appear the menu where have how to change the region code.On the blue screen push the buttons in the front of the screen in this sequence: up, down, up, down, up, up, down.
Boa sorte. -
A sequência de botões realmente funciona (up, down, up, down, up, up, down); uma tela azul abre com as definições da região (Region Code 1 no meu caso) ao final. O problema é que não é possível mover o cursor nessa página azul... alguma idéia?
The sequence of buttons does work (up, down, up, down, up, up, down); a blue screen comes up with the region code at the end (Code 1 in my case). The problem is that it is not possible to move the cursor up and down to change the region. Any idea? -
Hi,
I've test the sequence of buttons and doesn't work for me. Is there any specific time to enter, in the "loadind"message", "no disc", ...?
Olá,
Testei a sequencia de botões e não funcionou para mim. Tem algum momento especial para teclar, na mensagem de "loading", "no disc",...? -
Hi.
If anyone has any answer to this one it would be much appreciated, same here, manage to enter the screen where it shows the region but not able to change it....
Heeeeeelp, please... -
I've just bought a PD9012/37 at Best Buy in U.S., it was region 1 and now is 0 (unlocked), I hope it works for you too, please let me know.
1- Turn on the device with no disc
2- Open the tray and leave it open
3- Press the Setup button
4- Navigate to the Prefer menu (all you have to do is press 3 times the right navigation button on the front of the device, nothing else)
5- Press (next) -> (previous) -> (next) -> (previous) -> (next) -> (next) -> (previous) (Make sure you DO THIS USING THE BUTTONS ON TOP OF THE DEVICE right next to the setup button)
6- Now you can use the navigation buttons UP and DOWN to select the region you desire. (Remember 0 is region free so I recommend you use it.)
7- Press OK to confirm
Region Codes:
0 - Region Free
1 - USA
2 - EUROPE
3 - ASIA PACIFIC
4 - AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND, LATAM
5 - RUSSIA, INDIA
6 - CHINA
Any question feel free to ask -
Sure I can Help I just unlocked mine today !!!
The procedure is very simple.
You don't even need to go to the menu pref or whatever.
It's actually as follow :
- turn on your Portable DVD player without any disc to obtain the blue screen
- Then with the arrow keys in front and at the bottom of the main screen press the sequence as follow : "UP', "Down", "Up", "Down", "Up", "Up", "Down"
- Then you will have a screen telling the version that you have and at the bottom it says "region 1"
- Just use the arrows again to change it until you got "Region 0" and then press "Ok" (the play button in the middle of arrows), that's it !!!
In that process, remember that you just have to use the arrows in the front of the screen at the bottom and at the end the button "OK". Nothing else. Good luck !!! -
PERFECT!
I just checked back in because we are going on a trip. The procedure worked and is really simple. THANK YOU! -
Hi everyone,
i checked the procedure of Joh...but without success at the the first time.
In my case, I followed these steps:
- turn on your Portable DVD player without any disc to obtain the blue screen
- Then with the arrow keys (on the edge of the dvd). These buttons are used to fast forward or rewind the movie on the DVD.
Over these buttons press the sequence as follow : "forward >', "backward <", "forward >", "backward <", "forward >", "forward >", "backward <"
- Then you will have a screen telling the version that you have and at the bottom it says "region 1"
- Just use the arrows (main screen in this case) again to change it until you got "Region 0" and then press "Ok" (the play button in the middle of arrows), that's it !!!
- Save the changes, move to Exit Setup option and press OK
Thanks in advanceLast edited by jcanadillas; 29th Oct 2024 at 05:21.
