After downloading AVI's I prefer to rename them to tidy them up a bit, so "dummy.vid.s02e19.xvid.hd.lol.avi" becomes Dummy Vid 219.avi. However when I use my PS3 as a media server, the files show up with the original file name, not my edited one. Anyone know why this is? I only change it in windows by right clicking & selecting Rename or clicking on the file twice with a pause between. Is there another way to change it? Is Win Media remembering the original file name?

It happens because the playstation knows you downloaded the material instead of creating it from your own media.
Actually, if you right-click and select Properties from the menu, then click on the Details tab you will probably see the original name in the Title field. You can clear the personal information, which will kill the original title, or use an editor to change it. Most files don't carry this information.
