    Hallo has anybody succeeded in getting Creative SB Soundblaster Live 1024 CT4760 working in Ubuntu 8.04? If so would you kindly post full instructions?

    is the built-in nvidia motherboard audio device disabled in bios? appears not if ubuntu can find it, and only one audio device should be active.

    Device does not need to be disabled in BIOS.

    have you tried the latest version(maybe) of Ubuntu (Lucid 10.04) it has a better driver base.I had similar problem with a vga card.I was offered loads of different scripts and different configurations.Turn out all I had to do was go to system/administration/hardware drivers and select "switch on" for the right piece of hardware.
    If that doesn't work go to the official Ubuntu forums and then go to the hardware section.You might find some help there.
    I had problems with my sound blaster card with Ubuntu 8.04lts.But when I wiped the hardrive and put Ubuntu (a later version) on ive had hardly any problems.
    Plus development of 8.04 is getting a little thin nowadays.I think there going to pull the plug in 2012/14.
