We use either a Panasonic AG-DVC60 or a JVC GY-DV300 camera to record in the field. We record both to a DVD hard drive and to a VHS recorder as a backup. We then burn the MPEG 2 from the hard drive to a disc and use that to encode it to an MPEG1 file using a Digital Rapids DRC-2600 card and Stream software.
We would like to be able to save time by encoding to both MPEG1 and MPEG2 format while recording live in the field. We also sometimes have a need to record from 2 cameras simultaneously so we can create a PIP that shows both shots at once.
Does anyone have any suggestions for the best way to go about this? I am pretty new at this video stuff, but am trying to learn as much as possible.
