    Hello,

I have two files of subtitles (ASS format). I'd like to merge them in a way that the subs will have timing of the first file but the text of the subs will be from the second file. Basically, I have english subs with the right timing and translated subs with wrong timing. I'd like to get the translated subs with the right timing. Is there any easy way? I didn't notice any option like that in Aegisub but I may be blind after all

    Thanks for any help!

    Subtitle Workshop can do this.
It can read and write ASS I think, but check that it preserves the formatting.

Useful if you have one subtitle file in which the text of each subtitle is right but the timings are not, and you have another file with the same number of subtitles and with the right times. You just have to load the file with the right texts, and then click the "Edit/Timings/Read timings from file" menu or press the [Shift]+[Ctrl]+[T] keys. A dialog will pop up, all you have to do is select the file with the right times in that dialog and load it.

Thanks! I'll try that and see if it works!

  4. The online software on www.subtitleyourvideo.com lets you import the original timecodes and then import the translation to match those timecodes. That sounds like what you’re trying to do. You can also subtitle from scratch if you’d rather.. I use the software to subtitle workshops for iknowmyhiphop.com.
    Good luck!
