  1. Is it possible to insert a GIF into another video without breaking the GIF up into individual images and putting them into the video frame by frame?

Like say I have a GIF of someone jumping up and down, and a video of an empty grass field. Can't I just use some software to, for lack of better words, copy and paste the GIF onto that grass field?

I hope you understand what I'm trying to say!

  2. The gif needs alpha channel (i.e transparency) of the area surrounding the person jumping, then you could essentially composite it into the other video.

Otherwise it has to be prepared to isoloate the person (either color/chroma keyed out , or rotoscoped with masks)

It's not that simple, you have to use compositing software e.g. after effects, nuke ; or at least a NLE that supports alpha channel (e.g. vegas, premiere)
