Got a Samsung LN46C610/630 and using the HDMI from PC/video card connecting to the back of this TV's HDMI/DVI, my Window 7's desktop is exceptionally clear/sharp on this TV, however it's not filling the Samsung TV screen to the fullest! I can see about 1.5 inches of black borders to the left/right of the TV screen and about 0.75 inches of black borders to the top/bottom of the TV screen.

I've the ATI Radeon 4670 HD video card, and adjusting the scaling to 0 in Catalyst Control Center only get rid of the top/bottom black borders.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks.

Same thing happens with my LCD monitor with HDMI input. But I use a native 1650 X 1080 screen size. I only end up with about a 3/8" border around Windows and about a 1/2" top and bottom border when watching HD videos. But your TV seems to be 1920 X 1080 and shouldn't be resizing anything if your video is 1920 X 1080 and set to that in the 4670. I'm guessing you have tried different TV screen settings also.

Thanks redwudz, yes, after trying out few of the settings in the TV, I managed to fill the TV screen 100% by selecting "Wide Mode" in the TV settings.....however I can easily tell the picture is not as good as in the default 16:9 mode...maybe be due to slight "stretching"?

  4. ATI cards have an overscan compensation mode where the desktop only uses a portion of the full screen resolution (so the TV's overscan doesn't hide any of the desktop). I think you need to disable it.

Hi jagabo, how does one "disable" the TV's overscan?

One thing I find interesting, my video card has three outputs VGA/DVI/HDMI and if I remove the PC monitor 1680X1050 (using DVI) and only do HDMI to TVs HDMI, basically using the TV as sole monitor, then with the scaling adjustment, the TV would display beautifully at 1920X1080 without needing to adjust any settings in the TV, just one scaling adjustment in the Catalyst Control Center that's all.

    Thanks.
