I have a few home movies that were recorded with my compact digital camera. I need to cut a few minutes off the beginning and end. I know I can use something DVD Shrink. Is there anything else that can do this? Possibly better than DVD Shrink.

Compact digital cameras do not produce anything that DVDShrink can work with. Download AviDemux, cut only on key frames, set video and audio to COPY and output your new shortened video somewhere where you can find it easily. Don't forget to add the file type(Avi, mpeg, etc etc) to the end of your output file name....make sure it matches the file you are editing.

DVD Shrink wont work with AVI format? I have done it before with VOB so I just figured it would work.

Nope. DVDShrink only recognizes a DVD structure on a DVD, in a folder or in an ISO image.

It's called DVDShrink, not AVI shrink

That's because VOB is the standard dvd file format.

Is it actually "avi" your camera produces ?
After all, avi is just another container.

open it in Gspot and it should tell you exactly what you have.

But yeah, AviDemux is a good suggestion if you have the correct file/s, i use it quite often.

Yeah, it's a Canon SD1200 which produces video files in the AVI container. Not sure what the actual format is, never really checked it with MediaInfo.
