I´m downloading a movie via torrent (BitComet) and it´s stuck at 96,4% After several days it seems it won´t go any further. Is there a way to have a working DVD even missing 3,6% ? (Image atached)

I wonder if that is one of those "bait torrent DVDs" that I've heard about? Some studios were placing "nearly complete" DVDs out there for the purpose of catching people downloading movies illegally. Funny part, the DVDs weren't playable because the file structure wasn't complete.

It seems a little suspicious that with 96% and 7 VOBs, still every single VOB is incomplete.

doe anyone remember the death squads (off duty cops ) in the 80's /90's?

fighting piracy isn't on their priority list

Since this thread started, nobody has given me an useful answer. I think this was supposed to be a help forum.

  11. Take the .bc! off the end of the VOB files and burn a DVD.

I would probably remove all the .bc! extensions on the files if you want a complete DVD file. If that fails for playback, the VOBs look to be complete, so you may be able to reauthor just them to a valid DVD. You might try playing the individual VOBS with a program like VLC. Playback may tell you if the VOB files are complete.

    Thanks for the useful answers.

By the way should I be worried with a legal prosecution? Please no jokes.

If you were to download illegal copyrighted video files, it depends on the laws in your country about the response. Most countries have laws that prohibit illegal downloads and you could be prosecuted. Not worth the risk, IMO.

Apart from the possible/certain "legality issues":

try to find and use other torrents/sources than that "problematic" one.
Or start downloading from the Usenet.

P.S.: Read the forum rules again.
Even though Videohelp is "less unfriendly" than Doom9,
here you won't get much more than "generic advices" and
<PORTUGUESE>"tiração de sarro"</PORTUGUESE> when the conversation
happens to go, let's say, "warez-related".
