Well I have two Magnavox machines

The first one is my Magnavox MWR 10D6 DVD Recorder, I've had it for a couple of years... but recently I added a Magnavox NB500MG1F Bluray player to my collection, the problem is a rather simple and somewhat annoying one.

No matter which remote im using, the Bluray or the Dvd recorder, when I push power them both come on, when I push the open button they both open, I even tested the scrolling on both remotes and every button seems to do the exact same thing on both of them "record" being the only button the Bluray player does not recognize off of my Dvd recorders remote.

While this may not seem like a serious problem it is somewhat annoying and I was wondering if there is any way I can fix it?

  2. Buy a new DVD recorder or a new Blu-ray player -- one that's not Magnavox!

Or you can move one of the devices so that its out of range when pointed at each other or if there's an option to set one of the remotes and device to a different setting but i've only seen that on a few remotes.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

  4. Simple solution, don't use any remote button that cause a machine to power on (usually power and eject). Instead, power the machine you want to use manually and push the machine's eject button to insert or remove the disc. You have to walk over there to put the disc in anyway.

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago. I just put a flap over one of the infrared detectors and operated that unit manually. Not much else you can do if you can't change the codes for the devices.

If you wanted to get inventive, you could probably tape a short length of opaque soda straw over each units detector and angle them off in different directions to get some choice of where the infrared signal goes. A bit or trial and error may be required, but at least you would only need one remote for both devices.
