Am just getting started in DV editing and have Media Studio Pro 6.5. I built a project and output the results to avi which looked great. Went to drop on VCD and realized that I had to convert to mpg so I got TMPGEnc to do the conversion.
Looking at the output though, I was very disappointed. Any motion in the image was displayed with pixelated blurs that looked horrible. It's as if the image decomposed until the motion slowed down.
What's the best way to create files that can be burnt on cds for distribution?
Thanks

Which camcorder do you used ?
My Home video consists a lot children running around. I pretty much give up on VCD, and used SVCD. The higher bit rate of SVCD reduces a lot of the pixelation.
It sure make a lot disk space and TMPGENC time to do DV to VCD conversion. -
In answer to the two questions - no, I did not turn up the motion search precision. I didn't see a setting for this but then I also did not look at each and every knob.
Second question, my camcorder is a Sony DCR-TRV17
After posting here, I went back and re-encoded but at MPG1 and the output was much better. I was able to burn a VCD that was acceptable as opposed to SVCD that was not. Also found out that my DVD players wouldn't play SVCD. Interesting.
