  1. Hi all, hoping you can assist...

I need a program to alter the aspect ratio of a flv file. Can anyone recommend a good free one?

The file was pre encoded in the wrong aspect ratio and I am hoping there is a way to correct it.

    TIA

You might be able to repackage it with the correct aspect ratio with ffmpeg, but I couldn't give you the correct syntax.

Or, edit the width/height specs on the Web page vid player to "reshape" the video.
But it's always best to start with the original file and do it right the first time. Any rerendering and you will only degrade quality.

I have had some success fixing the AR of H264 files using XviD4PSP 5.0. Reencoding is required, of course.

Super is free and will change an flv to any aspect ratio -- or even convert to another format.

If h264/aac (most newer flv's are that type), a possible solution (without re-encoding) may be demuxing streams with flvextractor and packing them into .mkv with proper AR setting.
