  1. I need your help.

Two weeks ago, I did a lot of video recording and there is this video where I need to edit like 10-15 seconds out of and then trim it as well due to the fact that youtube has the 10 minute limit rule when uploading.

I use the Sony Cybershot T900 camera to record all of my videos with. the camera uses the .mp4 format for the video files. I attempted to edit the videos in windows movie maker on windows XP, but XP does not support the .mp4 format, I downloaded and installed windows live movie maker for windows 7, was able to trim the clip at the 10-15 seconds that I need to edit out to create the first part of the video for youtube, and then use that same clip again, did a starting trim at the point I needed it to be at, saved the files in the 720p .wmv file format. I uploaded the first video on youtube which I've since made private and the video was not a full screen video. It was in letterbox format, and black sides of the video. I did not like that at all. So I gave up.

Today, I find out about this program that I shoudl use called PowerDirector 8 Ultra to edit my videos. I attempt to edit out the 10-15 seconds that I need to edit out and I'm not sure of how to do it correctly though, and the options are either a mark in or out from the trim section. So I do a mark out. I then clicked OK, took the same video clip, dragged it down next to the edited video in the timeline and while playing it back, the first clip would get to the end and it would not play the 2nd clip on the timeline. What am I doing wrong? The video clip I am attempting to edit is a 17+ minute clip and youtube only allows the 10 minute limit and I am not a youtube partner. So with this clip, I need a way to cut out 10-15 seconds of the portion, somehow do a mark out or something else to the first part of the video so that I can put it on youtube, then take that same video clip and edit out all the stuff from the first part to create a 2nd part for youtube. My youtube username is pcdoctor2 and if you want to check it out, there's a video called Graduation on there and it stops at 7 minutes. Can anyone help me on video editing? I'm a complete newbie to all this.

My guess with the Live Movie Maker file is that you didn't change the Aspect Ratio to 16:9 (it is 4:3 by default), hence the black pillar bars.

I have not user Power Director, so I cannot offer you any specific help with that product.
