Greetings, been a while as usual....
two questions...
First let me say I use Sony HC9 camera's in HD to capture footage.
I use Sony Vegas Pro 9 to edit.
rendering
I want to render two ways
1) For Blue Ray in the full HD ..I use the Sony AVC and I should be okay there
2) I want to Do a NON blue ray 4.7 gb version..which I guess I want to letter box so that no matter what , wide screen or 4:3, it shows okay. I have tried the DVD architect widescreen setting which renders great for widescreen BUT i dont have a 4:3 tv to test it on...
Burning and DVD architect
What shoud I be using here for the main template ? Also, I cannot BURN a decent disk with the damn thing. It burns and is unplayable..so i have to create the files (Video TS ) and use NERO to burn a valid disk...UGGGG
Help is appreciated....

I don't use either of the 2 programs mentioned, but if your camera shoots in the 1.78:1 ratio then you don't want to letterbox it for DVD. Resize it to 720x480 (talking into account the interlacing when resizing, if the footage is interlaced) and encode for 16:9. When being played to a 4:3 TV set the player will add the black bars. If you add them yourself and encode for 4:3, it'll look OK on a 4:3 TV set, but play on a 16:9 set with black bars on all 4 sides. If you letterbox and encode as 16:9, it'll play on both sets with bad aspect ratio.

Hello..I appreciate the answer..but it really doesn't help. There are many people here familiar with Vegas so if one could pipe in and say
Yes, use DVD Architect Widesreen setting default in Vegas and then the tv will do a convert if needed...
I have tried MANY variations and have even seen what you mean about the center square type picture on my widescreen (and if I set it for 4:3 zoom it fills)
anyway...can someone offer specific help ? ThanksThe answer is always easy for the person who has it.... -
Never let DVD Architect burn for you. For DVD Video or BD Video use Imgburn. The best by a mile.
Read my blog here.

first you need to render to dvd widescreen mpeg2 and make sure the check box for stretch video to fill screen(do not letterbox) is ticked. then use it to author a 16x9 dvd. the dvd player will take care of adding bars if needed. but like guns said make the video-ts folder and use imgburn to create the discs.
