  1. I recorded a short test video on my smartphone today, 20th June 2010, at 16:17 and transferred it to my PC. The information displayed by MediaInfo includes the following:
    Encoded date: UTC 2010-06-26 13:22:32
    Tagged date: UTC 2010-06-26 13:22:32

I'm not ensure what those mean, but I would assume it's the recorded date. But whatever it means, it doesn't seem to make sense as it's 6 days in the future!

GSpot reports some equally puzzling but different information:
    Created: 2010 Jun 27 14:22:32
    Modified: 2010 Jun 27 14:22:32

The smartphone (an HTC Touch Pro 2) is correctly set for date/time. Its clock and alarms etc are all working properly. Still photo JPGs taken on the Smartphone all show the correct time when copied to the PC and opened in various programs and their EXIF data is displayed.

Anyone know what's going on here please?

A bug in the phone software?

Maybe you could change the date with mp4box.

  3. Thanks Baldrick. OK, I'll post on the HTC, XDA Developers and Windows Mobile forums as well. Also downloaded mp4box for experiment.

  4. Duly posted to several specialist threads covering the smartphone itself and its OS (Windows Mobile) and ActiveSync. No replies yet.

Meanwhile, can anyone here with a smartphone that takes MP4 video spare a few minutes to test this please? After copying the MP4 to the PC, does MediaInfo and/or GSpot report its date/time correctly?
