    Hey guys.

I've got a DVD movie, and I want to back it up as a VCD. I know about the massive loss of quality that would happen in doing so, but I'm cool with it.

How could I do this for free?

Just out of curiosity, why ? When we have things like H264 compression available and we can get the same size output but orders of magnitude better quality, why would you want to create a VCD ? (Not saying don't do it, just want to know why you would)

Back in those days, decrypt the dvd to [video_ts] then use DVD2AVI to split the audio from the video, merge them tmpgenc and then use nero burn to VCD. Of course you could always make an xvcd containing the entire movie by manipulating the settings in tmpgenc.
