Here's how I finally managed to record streaming videos after trying various Realplayer type HTTP grabbers. 90% of the time they don't record due to the commercial clip at the beginning or they are copyright encoded. I went the screen recorder route and looked for software that would record in virtually the same quality as the video stream. I found Camtasia 7. It's perfect for your purpose.

You can set your recording parameters for audio and video in any format, especially if you download ffdshow codecs first. After I played with it for awhile I found I could record Hulu videos and save them as though I had downloaded them directly. Let's use your video for example: we play it in the small[not full screen]window. Then draw our recording box with Camtasia within the video screen size. The recording parameters are set for output to xvid at 30fps and whatever bitrate you want. I use 1200kbs generally. restart the video and hit the record button. After stopping I save and open in virtualdub and lift the commercials and cut off the end if needed.

Does anyone now how to get videos off mtv.com now. I was succesful with streamtransport but now it doesnt work no more thanks alot
