  1. Hi,

I just downloaded this program and it looks great. However when I try to change the project properties the window does not open to its full size and there are no resize handles on it so I can't do it manually either. It will also not save any changes made to the initial settings made when the project is first started. I really like the transition overlay of the falling postcards but I can't seem to find it. Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place. Also a video on how to apply the different combinations of transitions would be nice too. Thanks for the great tool.

There is no need to do this IMHO. It's just a preview.

It will also not save any changes made to the initial settings made when the project is first started.
The ini file is updated when project properties are changed. Opening a new file will of course use the settings from the file.

It is done by animating the slides and then using 'Overlay' as transition.

Also a video on how to apply the different combinations of transitions would be nice too.
A good start is to check out the tutorial page here: http://download.videohelp.com/tin2tin/tutorials.html

  3. The project properties dialogue window is a preview??? This is where I am changing the general characteristics for the project......or is there some where else to do this? There is Export information at the bottom which I can't view/see/use because the window won't expand. Even if it is just a preview, IMHO, my inability to see all information presented even in a preview interfers with the functionality of the program. Because it won't save any additional changes perhaps there is something in the inaccessible area that impacts this.

About changing the properties of a project already created: Once you set the properties of a project when it is created as a new project the properties are locked and unchangable? Perhaps I am misunderstang how the Change project properties function/dialogue box works?

I will take a look at the tutorial listed to apply the transition i'm looking for

Thank you for such a quick response.

Sounds like your screen resolution is too small for this program to work, if 'export' is the last word you can see in the bottom of that window. You're missing the Okay and Cancel buttons. If you leave the Project Properties without using the Okay button - all changes of values will be canceled. So you gotta use a higher resolution for your monitor...

The player in the Project Properties window will only show you two slides. The reason for that preview is that you can see the changes in subtitles/backgrounds/effects etc. there. The 'real' preview function you will find in the main window.

Now please check that video out - it will save you some time getting started with/understanding the concepts of DVD slideshow GUI.

  5. OK. I will change my display and see how that works. Thanks again and I will let you know how my project turns out.

  6. Here's a fresh example of the same combination of the Animation tool, Overlay transition and negative transition durations:

  7. Thanks. Nice example. The window still won't resize and my resoultion is as high as it can go for the size of the monitor...1280x1024. When it opens there is still plenty of space on the display for it to fully open judging by what I saw in the tutorial, it just doesn't open all the way. Maybe its a windows 7 bug or something. Any way thanks. I'll probably be moving on to another slideshow maker since I can't use that tool.

Again thanks for the help; I was really looking forward to using your program.

  8. Sounds like the DPI your of display is messing things up.

Take a look at this screenshot comparison and see if your display looks somewhat familiar with the texts looking bad:
    Name: dsg_wrong_xp_dpi[1].jpg
Views: 850
Size: 35.1 KB
    Left: too high DPI(DPI=120) / Right: DPI=100%(DPI=96)

If this is the case then try to change the DPI on your computer.

Here is a tutorial on how to do that on Windows 7:
    http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/443-dpi-display-size-settings-change.html

    And another one:

    Hi

I'm a newbie to dsg and like it. Just to let you know I am not a programmer!

Found this threat re falling postcards. Is it possible to provide some screenshots to show how the clip was produced? As such a step by step worked example.

Also, I think a simple question. How do I position text where I want on the page. Using pos and \an? appears only to do what the \an command.

    Thanks

  11. On the falling postcards:

    On the position:
In the 0.9.3.7 version I've added in 'Help' a link to the tags which can be used in DSG subtitles.
    Set position
    \pos(<X>,<Y>)
Set the position of the line. The X and Y coordinates must be integers and are given in the script resolution coordinate system. The meaning of X and Y changes slightly depending on alignment.

    Line alignment
    \an<pos>
Specify the alignment of the line. The alignment specifies the position of the line when no position override or movement is in effect, and otherwise specifies the anchor point of positioning.
The \an tag uses "numpad" values for the pos, ie. the alignment values correspond to the positions of the digits on the numeric keypad on a regular keyboard:

    1: Bottom left

    2: Bottom center

    3: Bottom right

    4: Middle left

    5: Middle center

    6: Middle right

    7: Top left

    8: Top center

    9: Top right

    Thanks

It will take me a bit of time to have a go with the falling postcards!

I think I have worked out where I was going wrong with regard to positioning. If I take position off thethe style tag menu it inserts POS in upper case and nothing happens. However when I type in lower case the text moves.
