  1. So I have some footage shot with a Canon HV40 and am using Vegas Pro 8b at the moment. I have one tape shot in PF24 mode and one in 24F mode. The 24F footage is splitting into 1 second segments when I try to capture with Vegas. The PF24 footage captures as it should. I have scene detection disabled.

I know about HDV Split but Vegas crashes when I try to render a project with footage captured that way. If I use the footage captured through Vegas it renders fine. So that option doesn't exist. I need to use Vegas. any ideas?

update to vegas pro 9.0d? i shoot 30p on a canon hv30 and hdvsplit is all i use to capture. the files it creates are always usable in vegas and premier pro.

24pf needs inverse telecining to get it out of the 30i wrapper before editing. the native 24p may be too new a format for the older 8b version of vegas to recognize.

  3. I read somewhere else about capturing with Vegas 7. I installed my old copy and captured the 24F footage and it worked. I'm going to try creating my project in 8b and see if it renders successfully. If so then I'm ok for now. If not I may go ahead and upgrade to 9.

  4. Also, even if I upgrade to Vegas 9 is there something I need to process the 24F footage with before I bring it into the Vegas timeline?

no. the 24f should be usable in a 24p project as is. right click the file properties to make sure it is listed as 24 progressive. if not change it to be so.

  6. It took me a while and a lot of trouble but I got my problems settled. I upgraded to version 8c and it captures fine. It would render fine also but the audio on everything I rendered was all screwed up skipping like a broken record. I tried every setting and every render format and even installed the trial of Vegas 9 and was having the same problem. Eventually I discovered the Antress Modern Limiter plugin I always put on my master audio output was causing it. When I took that out of the chain everything is perfect. Now I can work with 24p footage with no issues.
