    Hi all.

I hope this is the right forum to post this question.

I recently recovered data from a defective hard drive, mostly mpeg videos.

However, almost all files have returned corrupted. I have tried opening them in Womble's Mpeg Video Wizard and also another popular software, VideoRedo. Both refuse to open these files. Same goes for Mpeg2vcr and Windows Media Player.

I am wondering if there is any way to restore / repair these mpeg videos.

A sample mpeg file is attached. (I have changed the extension to .mov as I was getting error uploading it as an mpeg).

Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated.

    Best Regards.

I looked at it in a Hex editor, and it seems to be filled with binary zeroes - no video info at all.
Seems as if the data recovery failed.

  4. Soon as I finish making this silk purse, I'll be right with you.

You might try Vdub to open, but most likely you'll get no better, at leat on most files.

A better file recovery program might do better. It might not.
