Last week the local (45 miles) Fry's store had all at $39.99.

Diamond (ATI) 650 PCIe Internal ... SD NTSC-M and ATSC/QAM tuner, 3D comb filter

Diamond (ATI) 650 USB2 External ... same box copy as PCIe version

Diamond (ATI) 750 PCIe Internal ... single HD ATSC/QAM tuner but GPU hardware acceleration if used with an ATI HD series display card.

I checked Fry's online store first and they are currently sold out of the USB version of the Diamond (ATI) 650, but some brick-and-mortar stores still have them. I don't want to be a rumor monger but I think that the TV Wonder 650 line may be nearing the end of production. It seems like fewer US stores have it in stock now that the PCI-e version of the TV Wonder 750 has arrived here.

Fry's usually is the destination for closeouts.

The advantage they have is fewer stores to stock vs. BestBuy and a "who cares" attitude to customer service.

Your advantage there is you know more about the products on sale than the store help. But the Fry's buyers in Corp. know much more than you why those products are there and on sale.

  4. Alright, I plan on making a purchase tonight (seeing as I will be able to use my mother's credit card to make another purchase I am going to make) so I want to buy my capture card at the same time as well. I am pretty much settling with the ATI TV Wonder 650 now, but which one am I really better off with ? The PCI or the USB ? My old capture card set up I have a pretty good set up for (I have a usb extendor so I can have the actual card closer to my TV). If I were to go with the USB, should I buy those Wii S-Video cables too ?

Given your low computer specs you will be better off with the PCI card. Full D1 capture of YUY2 video is fairly high thoughput for a USB 2.0 port and puts additional load on the CPU.

The PCI version of the Diamond (ATI) 650 series is the hardest to find of the group. Amazon.com had the best price I could find from a source that I know is reputable http://www.amazon.com/ATI-TV-Wonder-650-Tuner/dp/B00138CJD4/ At least you get free shipping. Maybe you can do better, but double check to make sure the picture shows a PCI interface, since they are not as common as the PCI-e version.

That's a better choice then, assuming there is a Fry's close to NMeade. The website doesn't list the PCI version at all, just the PCI-e and USB versions. I have to go by what the the website says, since for me, the nearest Fry's is 900 miles away.

  10. They've been that price for a while now. I got the USB model for $30 ($10 cheaper than the online price) at the local Fry's store a month or two ago.

We have a Hauppauge 1850 card.
Does any one have the values for the following parts on this board.
    C15,C16,C17,C183,C184 R5,R6,R7
It would be better yet if we could get the circuits for the video inputs of this board . S-Video and C-Video.

We had to remove them because of spilled COKE on it. Yes Coke is like a acid.
The circuit board pads are still good.

    any help would be GREAT.

All you do was mix some baking soda in water and qtip to neutralize it and then qtip with rubbing alcohol to clean it.

If I was the first one to it . It would of been cleaned the right way. But some one else though they could do it Hi Hi.

We replaced the resistors with 75 ohm and the caps with 2ufd and it is working . Just need to install the correct size.
The video go'es to the CX23887-15 chip but we have be unable to get the full PDF file that chip.

    Thanks CharlesB
