Question about Iphone

hi i was wondering if u could help me. My iphone is stuck in the "insert valid sim" screen, but i dont have the original sim card. IS there a way to get passed this mode so i can at least use the iphone as a ipod till getting a sim ?.Bought this on ebay when i got it i restored it to factory settings,now cant even get the menu to come up.
Tryed google nothing other then a run around.got this for my son didnt even know we needed a sim we have Blackberrys and there are no sims in them.

I just bought an iphone. When i purchased mine the AT&T salesman just didn't pop in the SIM card from my 'old' phone like you would do with a regular GSM phone. He went through an activation process. I think the SIM card is 'married' to the iPhone, as he had to use the serial number for my iPhone to activate it. Also, I had to have a data plan that goes with the iPhone.

Admittedly, I don't know all the details, and i am certainly no expert when it comes to the iPhone, but i don't think you can simply stick in the GSM card from another phone and it work in the regular iPhone.

I would suggest taking it by an AT&T outlet to see if they can help.

canadateck what iPhone is it and what software version? Just go to chat.osx86.hu server and join #iphone in mIRC or any IRC client and they'll answer all your questions.

have an iphone and no sim... poss to activate without a sim card? if so from there unlock it? just to use as ipod if nothing else
