    Hi everyone

Just tested out a player ive seen recommended here and despite getting the portable version and selecting splayer not to associate with vide formats...it still did.

can anyone tell me how to get rid of this references:
    Name: splayer.jpg
Views: 726
Size: 10.4 KB

ive changed the default player but im unable to change the references circled in red, i hate when a program does something like this, it reminds me of bad experiences with codec packs in the past...grrrr...

    Thanks

  2. Always Stay Away from Chicken Shit! coz codec are not codecs but back-doors.
Stick to to the trusted ones like VLC or whatever you like and prefer.

i only use MPC HC and sometimes VLC but someone here (a reputable member) recommended it and i tried but won't make the same mistake again, anything that can be done about the "hijack" problem?

I tried splayer portable and installation version and it didn't take over any associations.

Did you select yes in the startup where it asked about set as default player?

no i clicked the manual button and made sure (double and triple checked) no video files where associated with splayer.

i've asked about this on their blog but i only saw chineses/japanese comments before mine.

Uninstall the program - have a look in the registry for any remnants of the program and delete those as well.

Have you tried to run the .bat file in the splayer folder?

There is a registry hack that is supposed to prevent persons or programs from changing file type associations (it doesn't work on DivX Plus for some reason)

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Unknown\shell\openas\command\
    %SystemRoot%\system32\rundll32.exe %SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,OpenAs_RunDLL %1 %2
