Everywhere I look I see it upsamples DVDs to 1080p but nothing about outputting Blu at 1080p ... I'm guessing then that this is a given?

I haven't seen mention anywhere of audio over HDMI. The way I setup my buddy's TV as it has no speakers and there was only one input on his bookshelf stereo was Sat Box => HDMI to TV => R/L RCA to bookshelf stereo. If this thing can't/doesn't do audio over HDMI then that will be a deal breaker for sure.

Any information would be GREATLY appreciated ... in the mean time I'll keep digging through the RFD thread (35 pages ) to see if I can find the answers there ...
I've never heard of a BluRay player that could not output 1080p as such support is part of the spec.

The preferred audio connection will be HDMI. Other methods may be supported in a degraded (non-HD) mode. HDMI audio will be supported for sure. Heck, Hollywood doesn't really like to support any other connection method because of fear of copying but they may continue to allow manufacturers to do so for a short time longer. But non-HDMI support for video and audio is going away in the near future. Do note that if the TV doesn't convert 5.1 or greater input to 2.0 input (R/L) then some of the audio track will be lost via this type of connection. You may be able to set up the player to output 2.0 audio over HDMI - not sure.
