HI,
I would like to backup my Blu-rays, to play on my WD TV LIVE,
but without time-wasting reencoding. So how do I change the container to MKV
so I still have selectable subs and audio, in the file.
The reason I want to change it to MKV is that in the m2ts file, you cannot
do a time-search or subtitle select.

MakeMKV or BluRip.
But the wd tv does not support blu-ray pgs subs so you have to do that manually, extract subs with clown_bd, convert to sub/idx or srt with BDSup2Sub and lastly add it to the mkv with mkvmergegui. Maybe BluRip will do all that for you.
And this is better in our blu-ray ripping and conversion section. Moving you.
