  1. Hello,

This is my first message in this forum and I'm very sorry If I write some mistakes/errors, because English is not my first language.

I'm looking for some advices about good software to play movies in my laptop (with windows7). I don't need anything PRO and I just want that the program can make things like:

1 - Play Dvds and also AVI Files

2 - can make "image capture" to photo format AND to small video clips (5 or 8 seconds, for example)

3 - be able to make such things with keyboard shortcuts.

So, which program is good for this?

I'll appreciate all the tips and helps that you guys can write.

Thank you very much and, once again, sorry for my bad english!

    Take care!! : )

  4. I mean.. for example, make "Play/Pause" with the "Space" key... or make "CaptureFrame/image" with the "C" key....

    Is it possible with VLC?

  5. Uau, nice help. Thank you again.

I saw that Ctrl + C is for "Open capture device". I will try to see it it is simple and quickly to capture a image or if I need to press a lot of buttons...

I used to work with a very old version of "intervideo windvd" and I really love it to capture images (in BMP format), it was very simple, (except for captures in video format clips, that was impossible)...

But now I have a new laptop at home with windows7 and I dont think that that old "intervideowindvd" works. I read some reviews about the new Windvd100 by Corel and some people criticize a lot because of not having shortcut keys.

    THANK YOU VERY MUCH

You want "Snapshot" = Shift + S for capturing a screen shot.

Ctrl + C ="Open capture device" is for capturing the output from a TV card or other video capture device that is supported by VLC.

[Edit]"Snapshot" saves in .png format by default, but it can be configured to use .jpg instead.
