    Hi again,
As you might know from my previous posts, I've been having trouble when I play back a 5.1 AC-3 that I encoded with a couple different programs that I've tried. However, one app that does work for me is Audition and its Surround encoder. The problem is that its only output that works for me is a single 6-channel encoded Wave. This is not ideal. Is it possible to convert this Wave to an AC-3? I tried using BeSweet but it doesn't work. The log file reports that it didn't understand the input format.
The file that Audition outputs can be used by VirtualDubMod, and it does play each channel properly, but I want to use an AC-3 for use with DVD-lab Pro or DVD Flick. I tried using my Wave in both of those apps and the result was only Stereo.
    Can someone please help me?
    Thanks,
    Justin

  2. you can use avisynth with wavsource and soundout plugin

    e.g.

    wavsource("waveformatex.wav")
    soundout()

you might be able to use eac3to, but I can't recall if it likes waveformatex, or the other version of wave

you might be able to use foobar2000

I would the 1st suggestion with avisynth

  3. Hi,

Eac3to can encode 5.1 wav files into .ac3, I think it should work ok with its built in Libav/ffmeg decoders.

If not you may have to fully install it with all the correct codecs taken from various other pieces of software,
Some of which are freeware and some are commercial.

I've just tested it by converting a 5.1 dts track into a 5.1 wav, and then back into a 5.1 ac3.
It worked OK and Eac3to only seemed to be using the built in codecs for the conversion from .wav to .ac3.

check out this link for a full list.

After quite a bit of searching i managed to find 99% of the required stuff on the net for free..

P.s I have used eac3to produced .ac3 files, with DVDLAB pro with no problems.

    Cheers..

Hi. I tried the Avisynth method and it didn't work. The same issue occurred as what I posted about in my last thread.

Now I'm REALLY getting very peeved and very frustrated.
Please refer to my last thread:
    https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/321338-Why-are-my-Surrounds-playing-on-the-front
I state in that thread that my DVD software plays all channels fine, but I tried a different DVD and it seems that they don't ALL work properly. I just tried The Terminator and it's only my FL+FR.

UGH! That link was working, but now it's not. If you look at the main Audio forum, you'll see the thread I'm referring to.

Update - I forgot to mention that I'm using AC3Filter. I took a shot in the dark and reset its registry settings, then reconfigured AC3Filter's settings... to specifically state "5.1". NOW my DVDs are playing properly, out of all 6 channels. HOWEVER, Audition remains the only app that encodes a Wave that'll play through all 6 channels. Soft Encode, SurCode, "Wave to AC3 Encoder" and eac3to all result in the Surrounds not working. I hate not understanding what I did to change things. I used to use Soft Encode all the time and it always worked. What could I have possibly done to stop the Surrounds from encoding?
