I don't know what forum to put this question, nor what to look for to look it up.

I use ConvertX to piece together a 2 part movie and burn it to DVD. What I want to do it put that movie, burned to DVD back on my PC as an .avi file. Is this possible, or how do I do it. The burned DVD has a video and audio file on it and I can't make a .avi out of it.
Can someone help, or tell me it can't be done?

autogk,avi.net,xvid4psp,staxrip or https://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/dvd-to-avi-divx-xvid . But remember that you will lose quality every time you convert.

  3. Put the DVD back onto your hard drive and then open the IFO or the VOBs in AutoGK. It'll make either an XviD or DivX AVI for you, your choice.

Why not? It's the easiest thing in the world.

My DVD has a TS_VIDEO and TS_AUDIO on it. I cannot get any of the programs suggested to accept this DVD to convert it back.

  5. All DVDs have those. The AUDIO_TS is empty and the real DVD files (the IFOs, BUPs, and VOBs) are in the VIDEO_TS. Both the audio and video are in the VOBs. I said to open the IFO or a VOB in AutoGK. If you load the first VOB, the rest will load automatically.

Of course it would have been better to just join the AVI files in the first place, rather than take such a long and quality-dropping route the way you have.

AVI Demux - open the first file, append the second file, save the new file. Done.

    • What is a good free program that will convert a MP4 to an .avi?

  9. XviD4PSP is a good one, although there are others. It's more difficult to use than is AutoGK, but there are guides for its use at the bottom of the XviD4PSP page.

I've been trying to us it, but haven't had any success. Think I give up on it and just use ConvertX. Thanks for your response.
