MKV2VOB Audio Problems

Can anybody help me fixing the following problem ?

1- Converted a MKV file to a MPG using MKV2VOB so that I can play it on my PS3 and also on my PC, using VLC
2- Video and audio works great on my PS3
3- But when I play it on my PC using VLC, BOXEE, or any other player I get a "HISS" sound instead of the audio track
4- Looks like the audio bitstream is not recognized and therefore not decoded.
4- Tried connecting pc to receiver that decode every audio format available
5- Tried selecting audio output to analog on the player at the pc

Nothing worked. Can anybody help ?

Didn't you keep the mkv? THe special vob is just for the ps3 and doesn't work that well with other players.

No I didnt keep the mkv. Is there a way to "fix" the file ?
