I apologize in advance if I am in the wrong forum. This is my first time ever posting in a forum. Someone told me that a person could use the telephone to make a relaxation cd or book on tape etc. They said the servcie would then do all the audio mixing and provide you with a finished product. Is this accurate?

    Thanks

It would be possible to have a service whereby a person phoned in, had their message recorded and then turned into a CD. There is no reason why it could not be done, in theory. The quality would be pretty poor, as voice data is pretty heavily compressed for transmission.

Are you asking if anyone knows of such a service ?

Ernestp, are you sure you have your details straight? I am very familiar with voice-over services that let you listen to the narrator over the phone as he/she is recording the voice-over (enabling you to offer directions), but the recording itself is done at a regular sound studio with fully professional gear. I would think there would also be a way of getting a voice-over from a remote site through VOIP. But as far as actually using the telephone receiver as a microphone -- no way. The quality would be atrocious.
