HI
I have connected Seagate (formatted in FAT32 I believe) to Sumvision.A screen pops up:
C:NTFS
D:FAT
I cannot access either of these, the remote won't even allow me to toggle between the 2 options, I'm not sure if I need to re-format my Seagate? The Cyclone states that USB can accomodate either NTFS or Fat32, so not sure why I can't access media from external HDD?Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks
Julie

A better option to format the drive to FAT32 would be Swissknife, if you have been using the OS to format: http://www.compuapps.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=112:???:wiss-kni...ent&Itemid=193 The OS FAT32 formating doesn't work very well for external drives.

I have read that swissknife only works with hard drives up to 500MB, is this true?I don't want to re-format to FAT32 (which it's already formatted in) and have to take everything off HDD, only to find that using swissknife doesn't solve the problem. I've read that sumvision cyclone micro isn't compatible with some external HDDs,could my Seagate 1TB fall into that category?

You can partition the HDD into two and use a utility like Swissknife then. I'm not sure if 1TB drives are a problem with Swissknife as the biggest drives I have converted are 500GB, though from reports, it doesn't seem to work with larger drives. From experience, the OS FAT32 formatting doesn't seem to work correctly with HDDs used with players. Here's a program that says it can format 1TB discs to FAT32, but I haven't tried it. http://tokiwa.qee.jp/EN/Fat32Formatter/index.html
The device also claims to be able to read NTFS drives. Did you use the device to format the HDD?
I'm not sure why a particular brand of HDD wouldn't work with a certain device. They all operate basically the same. But there may be something with the Seagates... -
Thanks Redwudz
I used Seagate's Diskwizard to originally format to FAT32,I suspect it's the size of the partitions that are causing problems. I can't format in NTFS, as I use HDD with my blu ray player, and that can only read FAT32. I think I will, as you suggested, partition in 2, then use swissknife. I'll let you know how I get on
Thanks again!

Hi Redwudz
I have managed to create 2 separate partitions,1 of 500GB,the other of 431GB.The sumvision now sees all the files on both partitions. The Blu ray, however only sees the larger partition. I did try making it 1 large partition (931GB), and the sumvision saw half the files on this, but when I put the rest back on,I experienced the original problemumvision states it is loading but then freezes, and I have to unplug from the wall.I think I will stick with these 2 sizes of partitions for now,at some point in the future I may experiment ie make the larger partition 800GB, see if it sees all the files on that, but I have had enough for now. Thanks for the advice, it worked, just a pity my blu ray can only access 1 partition!

Hi, i realise this is an old post but i'm too having problems with a 500GB HD in a Cyclone HD Enclosure - the problem i was having i think ive fixed using swissknife .. the HD was originally formatted to half NTFS & half FAT32 for some reason so i formatted both to NTFS and the Cyclone was very slow to read anything so i removed the partition all together and just formatted the 500GB to NTFS but i dont think it likes reading it as a whole drive so then i re-formatted the 500GB into 4 equal partitions (FAT32) with swissknife and that seemed to do the trick but the problem i'm having now is when i plug the USB from the Cyclone into the laptop to transfer video's it dont see it and wont open the drives in My Computer. Not sure if anyone else has had this problem and can help me fix this please~?
also: could anyone tell me how to update the firmware on the Cyclone HD (MediaCentre) i know where to get the firmware file from and to put it onto a formatted USB pen but i dont know how to get the Cyclone to see it and then to install it.
Windows 7 Ultimate Edition
2.2 GHz CPU
4 GB RAM
256 MB GFX
Many Thanks
