  1. So quality loss is neglible; I thought for some reason there were quality issues. If there are negligible quality issues, then there is no reason to adjust the bitrate

You said the "encoded file is different" which prevents you from making a patch. It's supposed to be different (at least when you add translations).

Is there some CRC check in the game that prevents you from using parts or whole of the 2nd file?

Can you swap out one entire video with a re-encoded one, and does it work/play ?

What I meant with "different" is the fact that after making it, I grab a patch maker and compare both videos, the resulting patch is very big (if the video is 30 MB the patch is 20 MB), which will make a huge patch once I have all the videos ready.

The subtitled version, regardless of how different is from the original video, works just fine within the game, so I know the codec I'm using is right.

  3. Did you test that big patch, and it works? So the problem is the huge filesize?

Is that uncompressed or compressed patch?

You will find older, poor compression codecs respond very well to compression (so if you distribute your patch compressed with winrar or zip for example). For example, I downloaded a sample DUCK video from that link earlier, and winrar with normal compression settings compressed it to <50% of original size

Sorry for the delay. The patch-making software also compress the files. Still I've tried to compress it using 7z and it didn't made a difference.
