    MKV video with AC3-THD audio
    Is there a PC software player available that will play this file ??

    The KM player, VLC, WMP with FFDShow, and probably a few more.

    As usual, guns1inger is quick on the draw and has the correct answers
    Thanks once again my friend. KM Player could play the video but not the audio
    but VLC did the trick nicely )

    I use The KM Player and FFDshow as my basic playback set up, and haven't had an issues. No special configuration that I recall.

    Quick Question about VLC
    Is it possible to load an AVI, add some Effects and Filters from the Tools menu
    then Save the end result as a new AVI ?

    I don't believe it is. VLC does have a transcode function, but it appears that it is separate to the main VLC options, so things like filters are not available to it. Virtualdub or AVIDemux are probably better options in this case.
