folks - going to try out this CUDA encoding lark...
i have managed to get acceptable quality results using mediacoder, and a crappy old 8400gs card.
it produces the same quality video (well, to my eyes anyway) as autogk through an e6750 type CPU,
and slightly faster to boot....
i am considering buying a GTS250 which has many more cores, and should be a heap faster...
my question is: should i bother with a 1GB card, or will a 512M be sufficient? as the price difference is quite marked.
has anyone tried this, and been bothered to look at the GPU memory usage using a tool such as GPU-Z?
my thoughts are if it does not go near 512M then the cheaper card is the go.
