  1. hi everyone,i just bought a samsung bd-p1590 and i can t watch any or almost any downloaded movies.I wanted to know if i can download any codec into it so i can watch movies from it,instead of running a wire from my pc all the the lol.if i could can u tell me the steps i have to take to do so thx.

    Nope, you can't download any codecs for a standalone blu-ray player.

    You might find a blu-ray firmware update for your player but they rarely add more video codec support.

    Or you could reconvert your video files to avchd/blu-ray with multiavchd or avchdcoder.

    Supposedly, the 1590 does have MKV/MP4 support, but I never figured out what it's looking for, or was able to get it to recognize files on a disc. (I have one or two posts elsewhere on the forum mentioning what I've tried.) In regions other than the US (maybe others), the firmware apparently also allows you to play DivX/Xvid AVIs.

    Frankly, however, you're probably better off trying something like the WDTV rather than try to figure out what the 1590 will accept, and then deal with the hassles of making sure your videos match that (or converting otherwise). From my experience, the 1590 (and other players as well) are EXTREMELY picky about what they'll play (even more so than most DivX/Xvid-capable DVD players), in MKV/MP4 or otherwise.
    If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?
