I have a 8.3GB DVD that I created that I planned to burn to a Verbatim DVD+R DL disc. After setting up the project in Toast, I learned these discs are only capable of holding 7.96GB (and not the advertized 8.5GB) of data--much to my dismay.
Anyway, was wondering which commercially available application to invest in for the best quality shrinking results: DVDRemaster Pro, DVD2oneX or some other program. How about compressing with Toast? Opinions?

True capacity information is widely available.

If you google for differences, DVD2oneX seems to produce working output for a few specific titles that DVDRemaster's and Toast's requantizing wouldn't, which may have to do with ripping and copy protection schemes. This 'feature' does not apply to home-made DVDs that were encoded without CP.Originally Posted by headless chicken
DVD2oneX offers several types of requantizing, which should provide possibly better quality.
For just trimming down to 95% (8.3 > 7.96), I don't think the resulting quality with any of these tools would differ enough to be noticeable.
